Sex Offenders

The purpose of the Wisconsin Sex Offender Registry is to provide information to the public concerning the location of sex offenders within MPD's jurisdiction. The registry is NOT intended to supplant the community notification process, but rather, it allows the Mayville Police Department to promote public awareness concerning the potential threat that certain sex offenders pose to the community.. An informed community is a safer community.

Realizing that it is impossible to notify every citizen about a sex offender's presence in their community, the registry will empower you to obtain information on some sex offenders and take the appropriate precautions. Furnishing the public with information regarding convicted sex offenders is a critical step towards encouraging the public to protect themselves from potential future acts.

Sex Offender Residency Restrictions

In 2008, the City adopted Chapter 357 Sex Offender Residency Restrictions. It serves the City's compelling interest to promote, protect, and improve the health, safety, and welfare of the citizens of the City by creating areas around locations where children regularly congregate in concentrated numbers wherein certain sexual offenders and sexual predators are prohibited from establishing temporary or permanent residence.

Sex Offenders are urged to contact the city prior to establishing residency in Mayville. A current map of the restricted areas can be found in the Sex Offender Restriction Map

Any offender wishing to establish residency in a restricted area may request a hearing in front of the Sex Offender Residence Board by calling 387-7900.
