Police Mourn the Loss of K9 Frankie

The Mayville Police Department sadly announces the loss of K9 Frankie. Frankie died peacefully at his home surrounded by his family on August 21st. Frankie had been diagnosed with an untreatable form of cancer on June 20, 2010. Until his diagnosis, he had been actively working with his handler Officer Ryan Vossekuil.

Born on March 24, 2001 in Germany, Frankie became the Mayville Police Department’s first canine officer on September 8, 2003. Frankie had an exceptional career and thoroughly enjoyed every minute of it. Frankie helped make Mayville a safe community.

A visitation will be held on August 25th at the Mayville Pavilion from 11:00am to 1:00pm. At 1:00 p.m., a service will be held to honor K9 Frankie’s service to the community, with Chaplain Timothy Bauer, from the Dodge County Sheriff’s Department. At the conclusion of the service, burial will take place at Rienzi Pet Cemetery, Fond du Lac. The public is invited to attend the visitation and ceremonies to honor K9 Frankie.
