Man arrested for Thefts

Police arrested a 22 year old West Bend man for entering unlocked vehicles and stealing property on South John Street.

A police officer passed by a residence and observed the male subject in the passenger side of a vehicle. When the officer confronted the man, he admitted to stealing items from the vehicle. He told officers that a friend advised him that Mayville was a gold mine and that he drove to Mayville for the sole purpose of stealing items from any unlocked vehicles. The man was responsible for entering fifteen vehicles in about an hour and taking numerous items.

Fundraiser for K9 Frankie

The Mayville Police Department is having a Steak Fry fundraiser on August 13th from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. in the Piggy Wiggly parking lot.

K9 Frankie was recently diagnosed with an agressive and terminal cancer. Proceeds from the Steak Fry will go to the K9 fund to help with expenses.

Police Searching for Thieves

The Mayville Police Department is asking for the communities help in catching thieves who have been targeting unlocked vehicles in the City. One man was arrested on July 17th, but police believe there are more subjects involved in the thefts.

Citizens are encouraged to contact the police department at 387-7903 if they see any suspicious activity in their neighborhood.

No Damage from Storm

July 22, 2010

No damage was reported from the storm that went through Mayville in the afternoon July 22, 2010. While a tornado warning was in effect, Mayville only sustained huge amounts of rain that flooded low lying areas. Police, Fire and City crews were out monitoring the storm for any signs of trouble. Fortunately, the water began to recede shortly after the rain passed.
